表情是会说话的，我们可以从他人的脸部表情得知他们现在的情绪，嘴角上扬表示开心，皱眉则可能表示生气或是焦虑。

英文老师整理了10个语句，用来形容人们的脸部表情，让我们可以学著表达自己或他人的情绪。

表达“快乐”：

Broad smile on the face.

这表示当一个人开心时，脸上带有笑容。

例句: When my little sister sees her father come back from work she always has a broad smile on her face.

Beaming from ear to ear.

笑得嘴角都裂到耳朵了，形容非常的高兴。

例句： Children were beaming from ear to ear when they saw ice cream.

表达“伤心”：

Why the long face?

为什么拉长著脸呢？当你看到对方臭着脸，可以试着用这句话来询问。

例句：You’ve just got a new job, a new house – you should be happy! Why the long face?

表达“愤怒”：

He was wearing a frown.

形容当一个人愤怒或者忧虑时，眉毛低耸、眉间和额头佈满皱纹的模样。

例句：When Elena walked off after the argument with John he was left there wearing a frown on his face.

Grimaced/ Winced

这是用鬼脸来简短地表达不悦、嘲弄的方式。

例句：She took another drink of his coffee. ‘Awful,’ she said with a grimace.

She gave me a dirty look.

他给了我一眼─这里指的是类似于“瞪”，用眼神表达不满的方式。

例句： I got a dirty look from the teacher when I cracked a joke in class.

He was purple with rage (fierce anger)

脸色发紫，是形容极度愤怒，以至于脸都涨成了像茄子一样的颜色。

例句：She was purple with rage when she saw the teacher scolding her child.

If looks could kill

如果眼神可以杀人……这是一个未完成的条件句，当然是用来形容一个人极度震怒、看起来很可怕，不是真的要杀人。

例句： I’ll never forget the expression on my boss’s face when I turned up late for work fourth day in a row.

表达“惊奇”：

Raising Eyebrows

有时候人们在惊讶的时候会不自觉地抬高眉毛，或者藉此来表达它们的不满。

例句：She raised her eyebrows when she saw me with Karin at the restaurant, she didn’t expect us to be there.

表达“羞辱”：

Looking down the nose at someone

用鼻子看人，形容某人可能因为对方的社会地位比自己低，或认为对方不重要，而表达出轻视的态度。

例句：Just because he’s rich he looks down his nose at us.
