在外国影集或电影当中，男女主角在口语上常会使用到许多动词短语，但有时候一个动词短语的意思不只一种，这时候你就只能依照剧情去猜测吗？

今天英语老师提出了五个在口语上常常用到的动词短语(phrasal verbs)，例如我们常听到的「work out」就有四种用法，如果能一次学起来，我们在看欣赏电影时就不会为了了解角色对话，而忘了投入在剧情当中了！

1. Set up

– To place somebody in an awkward situation 使某人处于尴尬的情况之下

– To arrange or build a system 建立或开创某事物

2. Work out

– Fix a problem 解决问题

– Couples fix a relationship 情人之间修复关係

– Come to a successful end 成功、有好结果

– Go to the gym 运动、锻炼

3. Turn out

– Unknown knowledge 结果是、原来是

– Quantity produced 出产

4. Cut off

– To be stopped 中断

– When driving somebody goes in front of you 超车

5. Catch up

– Learn about what has happened in the pass 更新近况
