1. Off the top of my head 没有仔细想过、大概

Off the top of my head, I’d say we have about 300 employees. 我们大概有300名员工吧。

2. Leave for work去上班 / Get off work下班

I leave for work at about 6am. / I get off work at about 5pm. 我大概早上6点出发去上班。 / 我大概下午5点下班。

*发音: 注意for的音会稍微被省略、get off会连音

3. Drop you an email / Ping you (a letter) 寄信 (ping是收到讯息的声音)

I’ll drop you an email later. 我等等会寄信给你。

*发音: 注意you跟an会连音，变成有点w的音

4. Give me a shout 告知我

Give me a shout when you’re free. 你有空的时候通知我。

5. Give me a bell/ring/call 打给我

Give me a bell later. 等等打给我。

6. sucking up讨好 / kiss-arse 马屁精

He’s been sucking up to the manager all week. I think he’s a bit of a kiss-arse. 他这整个礼拜都在讨好经理，我觉得他越来越有马屁精的样子了。

*发音: bit of a 、kiss-arse会连音

7. up in the air混乱、未规划 / put off 延后

Everything is a bit up in the air right now. I think I need to put off our meeting. 目前所有事都还未定论，还在规划阶段，所以我觉得有必要延后开会时间。

*发音:up in、the air、put off连音

*注意call off是取消，put off是延后

8. knuckle down 开始动手 / all go down the drain 白费、结束、失败

We need to knuckle down and finish this project, or else it will all go down the drain. 我们必须开始动工完成这项计画了，不然一切努力都会白费。
